Learn moreCourse overview
This training explores the neurobiological link between Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and substance use disorders (SUD). Participants will learn how dopamine dysregulation, executive functioning deficits, and delayed brain development contribute to both conditions. The session provides practical strategies for treatment planning, including adapted motivational interviewing, CBT tools, and psychoeducation for clients with co-occurring ADHD and SUD. Counselors will also review a case study and apply clinical decision-making grounded in neuroscience. By the end of the training, participants will be able to identify symptoms, risk factors, and evidence-informed interventions to support this population.
