Metabolic Syndrome is a group of conditions that when found in the same person increase the risk of coronary artery disease, stroke and other health conditions. The conditions most closely associated with this syndrome are, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and obesity. These also happen to be some of the most common chronic care conditions we treat as pharmacists. The goal of this program is to review these conditions and their treatments so as to better understand how they fit into the overall risk picture for metabolic syndrome. This program also includes a final assessment that requires the learner to pass with a score of at least 70%. Learners will successfully view recorded lecture content available online via an online Learning Management System, complete required readings, and assessment activities for a total of 6.0 hours of CPE.
