Early intervention providers are among the first to discuss developmental concerns with parents and caregivers. Everything, from the assessments we use to the wording we choose when communicating with families, helps set the stage for powerful and positive experiences for both parents and children. This 90-minute, view-on-demand, recorded webinar provides tips on working with families at an often-vulnerable time, strategies for choosing appropriate assessment tools, and tips for conducting child-friendly, family-focused assessments that translate into meaningful IFSP planning for optimal growth and development. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) list three strengths-based strategies for discussing assessment results with families, (2) identify differences among observation, screening, and assessment tools, and (3) state three tips for linking evaluation to family-centered IFSP development. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.15 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, Foundational Knowledge, and targeted to early intervention OTs, PTs, SLPs, educators, and other pediatric professionals. The course instructor, Lor Benson Adams, MEd, is an educational intervention specialist and owner of Breakthrough Learning Solutions.
