Course overview

This 4-hour live webinar explores the evolving impact of social media on mental health and its relevance to clinical care across disciplines, including long-term care and massage therapy. Participants will examine both the benefits and psychological risks of social media use, including its links to cyberbullying, stress, and emotional trauma. Current usage trends across age groups are presented, along with research-based insights on screen time, internet dependency, and social media addiction. The course also highlights the emerging role of platform-based therapeutic interventions and the importance of promoting digital literacy among patients. Health professionals, including NHAs and massage therapists, will learn practical strategies to support patients in balancing screen time, encouraging real-life social engagement, and recognizing the signs of social media overuse. By the end of the course, attendees will be better equipped to contribute to improved patient outcomes through awareness, education, and referral when needed.
