Advanced Strategies for Fertility Acupuncture: Theory to Practice

Course overview

This module provides an in-depth exploration of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels (Qi Jing Ba Mai) and their foundational role in fertility and reproductive medicine within Traditional Chinese Medicine. Students will examine the historical evolution of Eight Extraordinary Vessel theory from classical texts through Li Shi-Zhen's revolutionary contributions, understanding how these vessels serve as conduits of constitutional Qi (Yuan Qi) and govern the creation of form. The course covers the unique characteristics that distinguish these vessels from primary channels, including their prenatal nature, direct connection to Yuan Qi, and profound influence on the 7/8 year reproductive cycles. Students will learn the energetic functions of each vessel in the "First Ancestry" (Chong, Ren, Du, and Dai Mai) and their master/couple point combinations for supporting conception and pregnancy. Special emphasis is placed on the relationship between stress, the autonomic nervous system, and fertility, as well as the critical roles of lung qi and gallbladder function in reproductive health.
