Course overview
This three hour course provides the latest information about HIV and fulfills all requirements for license renewal. The course covers F.S.456.032, F.S.381.004, 384.25; and FAC64B1626.103. It also provides information on House Bill 159, effective July 1, 2024, allowing certified pharmacists to screen, provide results, and dispense pre and post exposure phophylaxis drugs for HIV under certain conditions. Information includes modes of transmission, including transmission between health care workers and patients, epidemiology of the disease, infection control procedures including universal precautions, related infections including tuberculosis, clinical management, prevention, current Florida law and its impact on testing, confidentiality of test results and reporting, and treatment of patients. Also included is required information on the offering of HIV testing to pregnant women, and partner notification issues. PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE FULFILLS THE 3-HR HIV REQUIREMENT FOR CEUs BUT DOES NOT FULFILL THE COURSE REQUIREMENT FOR HB159 AS REQUIRED BY FAC64B16.31.
