Course overview
The Nurse's Role in Antimicrobial Stewardship is designed to equip nurses with the knowledge and skills to support antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) efforts. As antimicrobial resistance (AMR) continues to threaten global health, nurses play a critical role in reducing inappropriate antibiotic use and promoting evidence-based care. This course explores AMS principles, clinical decision-making, nurse-led initiatives, and strategies for effective patient education. Emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary collaboration, documentation, and overcoming barriers to nurse involvement. Learners will gain actionable tools to improve outcomes and contribute meaningfully to stewardship programs across diverse care settings.
