Essentials of Oncology Massage

Course overview

Massage for individuals with cancer used to be contraindicated. Nowadays with the right training and experience, massage therapists can safely use skilled touch to help manage emotional and physical symptoms brought on by this disease. In this two-day comprehensive course, we focus on what we CAN DO for those living with cancer or are in early remission and includes current information and research, precautions, contraindications, safety for the therapist, and client, info on lymphedema, neuropathy, scar tissue and gentle touch for the medically frail, as well as draping, positioning and medication guidelines are just some of the important considerations taught in this class. Course includes lecture, activities, demonstrations and a 3 hour hands-on practicum.
