Course overview

Learner Objectives: 1.The Mid-West Chapter was re-formed to bring together thoughts and issues throughout the multi-state area regarding clinical application to hyperbaric medicine practice. To provide up to date educational offerings, as well as new information related to hyperbaric medicine, and develop a closer relationship with Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society. Objectives: Understand the current knowledge regarding the pathophysiology of avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head and condyles. 2. Describe the proposed mechanisms of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and available treatments for AVN of the femoral head and condyles. 3. Describe the goals and selection of treatment based on stage of AVN of the femoral head and condyles. 4. Understand the rationale for using hyperbaric oxygen for inflammatory bowel disease and be presented the results of research on the use of hyperbaric oxygen with patients having inflammatory bowel disease. 5. The attendee will be able to describe briefly 3 varieties of targeted radiation therapy. 6. The attendee will be able to describe the usual dosing scheme for a course of radiation intended to be curative. 7. The attendee will be able to describe image-guided radiation. 8. Review steps to plan for UHMS accreditation. 9. Review how to incorporate utilization review of cases. 10. Evaluation Methods: Evaluation is offered at the end of the program through the UHMS website, which evaluates the effectiveness of the meeting, speakers and that no bias was presented, and overall objectives were met.
