Learner Objectives: As a result of having attended the meeting, the participants should have had the opportunity to: 1.Understand the clinical indications for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in postoperative paralytic ileus and recognize the variability in therapeutic outcomes. 2.Explain the independent impact of treatment pressure on the prognosis of HBOT for postoperative paralytic ileus and discuss future directions for clinical research, including the need for prospective studies using higher pressure protocols. 3.To understand the impact of hyperbaric exposure (especially with prolonged oxygen inhalation during decompression) on the cardiac function. 4.To understand the impact of hyperbaric exposure (especially with prolonged oxygen inhalation during decompression) on the vascular function. 5.To understand the mechanism that can explain the therapeutic effect of hyperbaric oxygen treatment on hypoxia / ischemia related diseases.
