Course overview

By the end of the course, the learner will be able to: 1. Discuss the structure, types of neurons, and neural transmission in the human body. 2. Describe the anatomy of the central nervous system. 3. Describe the anatomy of the brain, including the cranial nerves. 4. Discuss spinal cord anatomy and physiology, including reflexes and central nervous system pathways. 5. Describe the anatomy and physiology of the peripheral nervous system, including the autonomic and somatic branches. 6. Discuss the functional anatomy of the autonomic nervous system and its branches (the sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enteric nervous systems). 7. Discuss sensory and motor input, feedback, and integration for purposeful movement within the somatic nervous system.
