At the end of this course, the learner will be able to:

1. Identify the key regulatory standards and guidelines related to environmental and device-associated infections, including those from the CDC, CMS, and The Joint Commission.
2. Demonstrate effective cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization practices in healthcare settings by distinguishing between the appropriate methods for high-touch surfaces.
3. Analyze the roles of nursing and environmental services in preventing device-associated infections through proper collaboration and the implementation of infection control protocols.
4. Apply best practices in the prevention of central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs), including risk factor identification and timely interventions.
5. Evaluate the effectiveness of infection control measures through conducting environmental audits and reporting non-compliance, contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
