Course Title: Muscle Energy Techniques Practical Workshop Duration: 2 days, 12 hours (in person seminar) Instructor: Dr Shawn Pourgol, National University of Medical Sciences Course Definition / Description: This workshop trains massage therapists and other health professionals in the use of Muscle Energy Techniques (MET). MET is a manual therapy method that applies a controlled patient muscle contraction against a counterforce from the practitioner. It is designed to correct joint restrictions, reduce muscle tightness, and improve movement. The program focuses on clinical application through supervised practice. Participants will learn step by step how to assess mobility issues, position clients safely, and apply MET to restore function and decrease pain. The course highlights the importance of correct practitioner posture, biomechanics, and patient cooperation. By the end of the seminar, participants will have the knowledge and practical skill to integrate MET into massage therapy treatments to expand therapeutic options and support better outcomes. All instruction follows the scope of practice set by Chapter 480 Florida Statutes.
