Course overview

This workshop delves into the ways the relationship between social work supervisor and supervisee changes through the initial, intermediate, and concluding stages of supervision. COURSE OBJECTIVES Establishing a supportive and trusting environment during the initial phase of supervision is key to fostering trust, emotional security, and a collaborative dynamic between supervisors and supervisees. Throughout the supervisory period, continuous evaluation plays a pivotal role. We will examine how the intermediate phase of supervision facilitates a deeper engagement in clinical work through various evaluative methods, including both summative and formative approaches. Lastly, we will explore the conclusion of the supervisory relationship, addressing the challenges and excitement inherent in this phase for both supervisors and supervisees. At the end of the program, participants will be able to explain the components of initiating a supervisory relationship, understand the significance of providing beneficial supervisory evaluations, and identify the aspects involved in ethical termination of the supervisory relationship.
