Participants will be able to describe the history and main ideas behind positive psychology and how the field has grown over time, will be able to explain how optimism, hope, and resilience contribute to mental health and personal growth, will be able to describe how negativity bias, mindset, and feeling that one matters affect resilience and healing, will be able to define positive psychology practices like gratitude, validation, and grit that can help clients thrive, will be able to choose positive psychology strategies that fit different clients needs and backgrounds. Participants will gain knowledge about basic brain science related to well-being and how it supports change, and will be able to describe ways positive psychology can improve the relationship between provider and client.
