Advanced Surgical Procedures

Course overview

Come join us for a special 2-day, hands on advanced surgery experience with cadavers. We have designed the course so that you will be able to focus upon expanding your surgical skills and refining your surgical technique. You will watch a demonstration of each procedure before you perform it yourself. Featured procedures include fore and hindlimb amputations, gastropexy, nephrectomy, diaphragmatic hernia repair, salivary gland removal, scrotal urethrostomy in the dog, perineal urethrostomy (PU) in the cat, and anal sacculectomy. We will also discuss basic skin reconstruction techniques, and you will have the opportunity to perform advancement flaps and caudal superficial epigastric flaps. Esophagostomy tube and thoracostomy tube placement will also be reviewed.
