Course overview

Balance disorders are among the most common challenges in rehabilitation. They contribute significantly to falls functional decline and reduced quality of life. Rehabilitation professionals encounter patients with balance impairments daily from older adults at risk for falls to individuals following stroke and persons with Parkinson's vestibular disorders or musculoskeletal injuries. This course introduces foundational knowledge on the function and mechanisms of our balance system. It also provides an overview of simple clinical assessments that can be utilised in the clinic. Whether working in acute care outpatient rehabilitation or community settings this course will enhance your clinical expertise and improve patient outcomes. This course aims to introduce foundational knowledge on the function and assessment of balance for rehabilitation professionals.
