This hybrid continuing education course provides licensed practical nurses with the essential knowledge, skills, and competencies required to safely perform IV therapy within their legal scope of practice. Aligned with Florida Administrative Code Rule 64B9-12, the course emphasizes evidence-based practice and includes comprehensive instruction in anatomy and physiology of the peripheral vascular system, site selection, aseptic technique, IV fluid types, electrolyte balance, compatibility considerations, medication administration, complication management, and documentation. The course consists of 24 hours of self-paced online learning and a 6-hour in-person clinical skills lab. Learners will demonstrate IV insertion, maintenance, and removal techniques and participate in instructor-led simulation scenarios. The course concludes with a formal competency validation.
