Course overview

Florida law requires all nurses to complete a 2-hour continuing education course on recognizing impairment in the workplace every other renewal cycle (every four years). This requirement is codified in Rule 64B9-5.014, Florida Administrative Code. The course is designed to help nurses identify signs of impairment, understand employer responsibilities, meet legal reporting obligations, and become familiar with the treatment and monitoring resources available in Florida. By integrating statutory requirements with real-world application, this course equips nurses with the knowledge to: Recognize impairment in colleagues or staff members. Fulfill mandatory reporting duties under 464.018, Florida Statutes. Understand the Florida Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN) and its role under 456.076, Florida Statutes. Promote a safe workplace that prioritizes patient protection and professional accountability.
