Bronchodilator Administration / CPAP

Course overview

This 1.5-hour course provides EMS providers with the knowledge necessary to administer albuterol via hand-held nebulizer and apply CPAP. Core content includes respiratory anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, recognition, and treatment of asthma, COPD, and CHF, drug profiles and delivery methods for albuterol, and the indications, exclusions, and physiologic benefits of CPAP. Emphasis is placed on linking assessment findings with appropriate protocol-driven interventions to improve outcomes in patients with acute respiratory compromise.
