This 2-hour course prepares EMS providers and ECC/911 personnel to rapidly recognize chemical-assisted suicide events, protect responders and bystanders, and initiate safe, protocol-aligned care. Learners review common agents (e.g., hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, chlorine, phosphides, cyanide), typical creation methods and scene indicators, dispatch cueing, and the operational hazards of confined/enclosed spaces and off-gassing victims. Emphasis is placed on early HazMat integration, reference to the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG), hot/warm/cold zone control, PPE selection and monitoring, patient decon/airway/ventilation priorities, and toxin-specific treatment considerations, culminating in a secure assessment to verify competence.
