Course overview

This 3.5-hour course provides EMS providers with nationally applicable best practices for accurate, ethical, and defensible patient care documentation. Participants will explore the functions and audiences of the patient care report, fundamentals of clear and complete narratives, and integration of legal frameworks including HIPAA, EMTALA, and CMS medical necessity standards. The program also addresses billing considerations, time management, refusals, incident reporting, and documentation at crime scenes. Emphasis is placed on producing clear, concise, and professional records that support quality care, compliance, and appropriate reimbursement.
