Course overview

The prevalence of patients presenting with chronic pulmonary disease either as a primary condition or a comorbidity in outpatient and home health settings is rapidly increasing in clinical practice. Clinicians are often challenged with how to manage the pulmonary system in the outpatient setting to improve overall physical function and quality of life. This course provides the learner with an impressive and comprehensive aggregation of examination, evaluation, and treatment tools that work in the outpatient setting to improve the functioning of the pulmonary system. The session will review key considerations and opportunities for home health and outpatient practitioners to consider a paradigm shift - one that goes beyond routine care and argues for a greater focus on lifestyle behavior change that will improve pulmonary symptomology, deconditioning and activity tolerance.
