This 1 hour course prepares EMS providers to identify large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke using the FAST-ED scale and make time critical destination decisions. Learners review stroke pathophysiology, LVO epidemiology and outcomes, FAST-ED scoring and limitations, differentiation of stroke mimics, and prehospital management including ABCs, targeted oxygen, blood glucose check, positioning, IV access, stroke alert, and concise radio report. Emphasis is on rapid recognition, accurate assessment, and triage to definitive care to improve neurologic outcomes.
