This 30 minute course prepares EMS providers to assess and treat opioid withdrawal with buprenorphine under medical oversight. Learners review the drug profile and mechanism, indications and exclusions, and dosing and reassessment steps. The course covers use of the Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS), monitoring for side effects and precipitated withdrawal, coordination with refusal and transport policies, and linkage to follow up care, with emphasis on safety, documentation, and protocol aligned practice.
