Course overview

This 1 hour course prepares EMS providers to apply CPAP for acute respiratory distress in the field. Learners review indications and contraindications, device setup and mask selection, initial pressure settings and titration, and patient monitoring with pulse oximetry and capnography. The course covers pathophysiology and treatment considerations for cardiogenic pulmonary edema, COPD, and asthma, troubleshooting mask leaks and intolerance, safety and infection control, and documentation and handoff points to ensure protocol aligned, evidence based care.
