Course overview

Single parents are often the bedrock of their families, managing immense responsibilities with limited support. Yet, burnout among single parents is increasingly common, particularly during times of crisis. This training explores how professionals and support systems can use a protective factors framework to promote the emotional wellness and resilience of single parents. This training helps professionals dismantle stigma around single parent households and remind them to seek out and empower a family's strength in times of stress and crisis. After completing this training, participants will be able to: 1. Apply a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework to reinforce protective strategies and reduce the impact of crisis on single parent families. 2. Recognize signs of burnout and emotional distress commonly experienced by single parents, especially during times of stress and crisis. 3. Assess the family system to identify strengths and gaps in family support. 4. Challenge misconceptions and beliefs related to single parenthood and promote empowering language and practices.
