Course overview

Patients increasingly have shorter hospital stays after knee arthroplasty potentially returning home on day one post-surgery. In many countries patients can access skilled therapy services in their own homes enabling them to effectively and safely progress their rehabilitation goals despite early discharges. Research shows that home-based rehabilitation is cost-effective and efficient and it produces similar patient outcomes as rehabilitation provided in clinic or inpatient settings. This course introduces the components of a home-based rehabilitation evaluation for patients following knee arthroplasty and demonstrates early transfer techniques for these patients. This course aims to introduce the elements of a home-based rehabilitation evaluation for patients following knee arthroplasty.
