Course overview
Ethics form the cornerstone of professional mental health practice. They define the values, principles, and expectations that guide clinicians in serving clients responsibly and compassionately. Ethical standards not only protect clients from harm but also provide practitioners with a structured decision-making process for navigating complex clinical situations. This 1 hour course provides a brief introduction to the major ethical codes for which mental health professionals are responsible: American Psychological Association (APA), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), American Counseling Association (ACA), and American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). This course is written by Gwendolyn Green, LMHC MCAP LPC, co-owner and director of education of AA Ross Counseling, and is a licensed mental health clinician in Florida, Washington, West Virginia, and Vermont.
