This comprehensive 50-hour online continuing education program provides licensed nurses with in-depth theoretical instruction in intravenous (IV) therapy and peripheral infusion techniques. The course is self-paced (Anytime format) and meets the educational standards established by the Florida Board of Nursing under Chapter 64B9-5 F.A.C. and Section 464 F.S. Participants will study the anatomy and physiology of the venous system, fluid and electrolyte balance, pharmacologic principles of IV therapy, infection control, and Florida legal requirements for IV practice. Instruction includes the use of nutrient-rich infusion formulas such as Vitamin C, B12, B Complex, Magnesium, Zinc, Glutathione, Taurine, and Amino Acids for hydration, recovery, and wellness applications in compliance with nursing scope of practice. Learning Outcomes Identify indications, contraindications, and safety standards for IV therapy. Demonstrate understanding of venipuncture technique, catheter selection, and infusion setup. Calculate fluid and medication flow rates and recognize complications. Apply infection-prevention and documentation protocols. Interpret Florida Board of Nursing regulations governing IV therapy for LPNs, RNs, and APRNs. Scope of Administration and Monitoring This course applies exclusively to licensed nurses. Peripheral IV therapy scope for RNs and APRNs is derived from the Florida Nurse Practice Act and general standards of nursing practice; there is no specific SOP rule in statute for vitamin or nutrient IV hydration infusions. LPN IV therapy scope is defined under Florida Administrative Code Rule 64B9-12. Compliance This course satisfies the theoretical and continuing education requirements for IV therapy training as defined in the Florida Nurse Practice Act and Florida Administrative Code 64B9-12.005 for LPN intravenous therapy education. Learning Objectives Interpret Florida IV therapy scope of practice and legal standards. Describe venous anatomy and fluid-electrolyte balance.
