At the conclusion of this program, participants will: 1. Name and describe at least two oral medications prescribed to patients with Alzheimer's disease; 2. Name and describe the claimed effectiveness of monoclonal antibodies currently prescribed to patients with early-stage disease; 3. Explain why a patient may not be able to take the currently approved monoclonal antibodies; 4. Name the gene that may put one at greater risk to develop Alzheimer's disease and its prevalence; 5. Describe at least two unmodifiable risk factors for Alzheimer's disease; 6. Describe at least two reasons why women are diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease at greater rates than men; 7. Describe at least two causes of systemic inflammation; 8. Describe at least two chronic conditions caused by inflammation; 9. Describe at least four heart and brain-healthy lifestyle approaches; 10. Define "primary" and "secondary" prevention; 11. Name at least one currently approved medication repurposed for decreasing the risk of Alzheimer's disease or for improving function in early stage; 12. Describe the outcomes of the FINGER and U.S. POINTER studies.
