In light of the recent resurgence of measles in the state of Texas and the United States at large, it is more important than ever to make sure that parents know the truth about the safety and efficacy of vaccines in order to make healthy choices for their children. Nurses are well-positioned to have conversations with patients about vaccines, so it is important for nurses to have the most updated information regarding childhood vaccinations. This program explores immunization myths, hesitancies, and barriers, with topics including common misconceptions related to immunization administration from a patient's viewpoint, educating patients to aid in patients' understanding of common myths or misconceptions about immunizations, and common barriers healthcare providers may face when administering immunizations. There is also a discussion about how implicit bias may impact healthcare.
