Course overview
This asynchronous online course is designed for physical therapists and other rehabilitation professionals interested in integrating evidence-informed yoga-based practices into pelvic rehabilitation and healthcare. The course presents a theoretical and experiential approach to combining accessible yoga techniques with evidence-informed strategies to support pelvic floor function and overall wellness. Topics include anatomy and numerous roles of the pelvic floor, the biopsychosocial factors that influence pelvic floor function, pelvic floor dysfunctions and management. Participants will explore and experience the application of interoceptive awareness practices, mindfulness, breath work, guided movement, and therapeutic language as complementary tools in the management of a variety of pelvic floor dysfunctions. Four case studies are included. Emphasis is placed on the biopsychosocial model and practical techniques that can be immediately applied in both clinical and movement-based settings.
