Course overview

Health challenges may surface because of a variety of contributing factors, such as communication concerns, co-morbidities, negative seeking behaviors, and healthcare communication gaps, just to name a few. People with intellectual and developmental disabilities are at high risk for a decrease in healthcare services, as well as increased mortality as co-morbidities increase. This nursing round table will discuss increased risks to health, specifically for people with intellectual/ developmental disabilities, to include small bowel obstructions, STI risks, and seizure disorders. We will include various case studies in this discussion, as well.
