Course overview

Dr. Todd Woolen, MD, MMM, FAAP is the Executive Director of the Trusted Messenger Program. A pediatrician with over thirty years of experience, he's earned a national reputation for his work in primary care, practice management, and vaccine advocacy. For his pioneering work in health care innovation and science communication, he's been named an American Academy of Pediatrics Holroyd-Sheer Award Winner, and EY Health Care Entrepreneur of the Year and a People magazine national Vaccine Hero. Chad Hermann is the VP of Communication & Strategy for the Trusted Messenger Program. Chad is an award-winning writer, editor, filmmaker, and teacher with a national reputation for communication work in both health care and academia. In 2007, Businessweek magazine named him one of the Top 25 Undergraduate Business Professors in the country. In 2001, People magazine named him a national Vaccine Hero for his work in health and science communication. Objectives: 1) The participant will be able to use an evidence-based communication approach for their communication needs. 2) The participant will be able to identify three skills from the skill set to communicate with patients and families about immunizations and other health needs in a way that build trust and reduces patient resistance. 3) The participant will be able to communicate with patients and families concerning the importance of immunizations in the school setting, that will help improve quality outcomes, using an evidenced based approach.
