The Power of One and The Power of Many: School Nursing is About Trusted Relationships

Course overview

Dr Stroka went from the"projects" as a child to being inducted into the National Teacher's Hall of Fame, and was awarded The Walt Disney American Outstanding Teacher of Health. He received the Outstanding School Health Educator Award and Fellow status from the American School Health Association. Dr. Stroka has taught the school nurse program at the college level and has keynoted across the country and internationally. He now talks about how you need The Power of One and how to make a team using The Power of Many. He believes one person can make a lasting difference with the power of many, and that is his WHY. Dr Stephen Sroka presentation will explore the 4 C's of building nursing relationships: communication, collaboration, cultural competency, and caring. Other objectives include: 1). The participant will be able to describe five no cost school violence prevention strategies. 2). The participant will be able to identify the 4 P's of nursing resiliency: purpose, passion, pride, and persistence. 3) The participant will be able to describe three ways to examine mental health and the whole child: ACES (Adverse Child Experiences), TIC (Trauma Informed Care), and SEL (Social Emotional Learning).
