At the conclusion of this program, participants will: 1. Distinguish "living will," advance directive,", and power of attorney documents; 2. Describe the healthcare proxy hierarchy in Florida Statute; 3. Distinguish "living will" from "do not resuscitate orders" (DNRO); 4. Provide a benefit of an advance directive for adults of any age; 5. Define the terms "POLST" and "MOLST"; 6. Describe at least one situation for which a POLST or MOLST may be beneficial; 7. Describe at least two benefits of completing The Five Wishes; 8. Describe at least one strategy for ensuring a chosen healthcare surrogate will honor one's written directive; 9. Describe at least one strategy for addressing a conflict when a healthcare surrogate takes action(s) contrary to the person's advance directive; 10. Distinguish "competency" from "capacity"; 11. Provide examples of autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice in end-of-life decision-making.
