Hour 1 *Discuss the prevalence of osteopenia and osteoporosis. *Describe the relationship between osteoporosis and fragility fracture. *Contrast the relationship between fragility fracture, morbidity and mortality. *Differentiate the differences between cortical and trabecular bone. *Recognize the osteoporosis "care gap" and its driving factors. Hour 2 *Discuss the diagnostic imaging methods to assess bone mineral density. *Examine the laboratory markers to assess and monitor osteoporosis. *Summarize the potential of non-drug nutritional factors and modalities in the management of osteoporosis.
