Hour 1 *Discuss the basic biomechanics of gait. *Identify lower extremity coronal plane abnormalities. *Discuss pronation and supination mechanics. *Define bunions, hammertoes and hammer toes. *Review ranges of motion for lower extremity articulations. Hour 2 *Introduce lower extremity torsions and versions. *Highlight the differences between walking and running gait. *Discuss finer points of gait analysis and gait kinematics. Hour 3 *Utilize a pedograph. *Discuss pitfalls in obtaining a pedograph. Hour 4 *Demonstrate evaluation techniques for the clinical examination of the lower extremity in a case setting. *Go through expected ROMs for different joints in the lower extremity and their clinical significance when limited. Hour 8 *Describe and demonstrate some of the more common orthotic postings. *Discuss the clinical reasoning behind using orthotic postings. *Highlight some clinical examples of orthotic postings and their use. *Outline some pitfalls and precautions of orthotic postings. *Outline foot types and appropriate orthotic postings. Hour 9 *Introduce equipment needed to perform orphic postings and modifications. *Demonstrate examples of orthotic postings. *Provide instructions on how to perform common orthotic postings. *Provide instructions on how to perform common orthotic modifications. *Outline some pitfalls and precautions of orthotic postings.
