This course is designed for the physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and speech-language pathologists who seek a better understanding of how therapeutic taping can be used to effectively influence postural alignment to facilitate a stable base for movement. This course will include demonstrations using two different media: kinesiology taping and Superwrap(TM) along with an introduction to the use of rigid strapping tape. Techniques presented will focus on alignment of trunk and extremities for increased function. Course material will focus on basic concepts of theory, assessment, and treatment of the child with cerebral palsy and other neuro-motor disorders in relation to the use of taping and alignment. The course will include lab sessions and case studies to reinforce didactic information as well as a discussion of problem solving to determine the best taping technique and medium.
