Tracking # 20-1342638
Course overview
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) of Addictive Disorders is based on the book of the same name by Drs. Bruce Liese and Aaron Beck. This course presents CBT as a theoretical model in easy-to-access language, providing specialized descriptions of the techniques contained in CBT processes and how to use them impactfully. The counselor will be better equipped to deliver effective, collaborative treatment services to their clients by incorporating CBT techniques into their psychoeducation, individual and group therapy, and relapse prevention efforts. Shame, stigma, cravings, triggers, and addiction related thought patterns are powerful weights of SUD that CBT confronts head on, and this course teaches counselors how to do it while improving the therapeutic alliance that lifts the client. Even those familiar with CBT will benefit from the thoughtful and practical information offered in this course as creative ways to efficiently mix CBT with other counseling techniques like motivational interviewing and guided discovery will leave the counselor with an expanded skill set.
