Course overview

Intraoral radiographs are essential to veterinary dentistry. Due to breed and size variations as well as tooth shape and other anatomical characteristics, veterinary intraoral radiography can be challenging. This lecture is designed to walk participants through the steps in acquiring intraoral radiographic imaging, showing how to acquire each view as well as review the Triadan tooth numbering of dogs and cats. Pitfalls and tips to more easily acquire better radiographic images are addressed without the need to memorize angles. Utilization of these techniques will allow those new to this area of veterinary medicine to decrease frustration while seasoned team members can learn to increase the speed of image acquisition which decreases anesthesia time.
