2022 ACVP/DTF Pre-Meeting Workshop Getting into the Hard Stuff: Tumors of Bone, Cartilage, and Dental Tissues (on-demand)

Course overview

This lecture will target veterinary students, interns, residents, and anatomic pathologists involved in diagnostics. The conference will be organized into presentations and case-based interactive discussions with digital microscopy files available to registrants prior to the meeting. The presentations will cover preparation of bone and hard tissue sections, integration of immunohistochemistry, radiology and cytology into diagnosis, and key features of common bone, cartilage and hard tissue tumors. Case presentations will be used to illustrate the approach and diagnostic features of different bone and dental tumors. Course Objectives: This workshop will allow participants to identify tumors of bone, cartilage, and other hard tissues, highlighting the normal reactions of bone to injury, recognize neoplasia and use current nomenclature, principles and guidelines for hard tissue tumor diagnosis and reporting. Attendees will recognize the importance of combining clinical, diagnostic imaging, and gross and microscopic interpretation for diagnosis. The presenters will share their approach on hard tissue pathology. These presentations will cover normal bone and responses of bone to injury, preparation of bone and hard tissues sections, integration of immunohistochemistry, diagnostic imaging and cytology into diagnosis, and key diagnostic features of common bone, cartilage, and hard tissue tumors. Finally, there will be an interactive case-based discussion with digital microscopy files available to registrants prior to the workshop.
