Course overview

This one-hour, home-study course equips Florida opticians with the knowledge and practical strategies needed to deliver consistently successful insertion-and-removal (I&R) training sessions for new contact lens wearers. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how contact lenses fit within the statutory definition of opticianry and why thoughtful scheduling and workflow planning are essential to a productive training experience. The course introduces the Six Key Factors to Success in an I&R session, along with improved pre-placement and hands-on techniques that help new wearers learn to insert and remove their lenses with confidence. Emphasis is placed on using proactive, supportive, and effective language to check for understanding, reduce patient anxiety, and build long-term compliance. By the end, opticians will be better prepared to conduct a smooth, efficient, and PERFECT I&R session that sets every new wearer up for success.
