Course overview
Amniotic fluid volume (AFV) assessment refers to the use of real-time ultrasound (US, also known as sonography) to measure and identify abnormal levels in AFV; such as oligohydramnios (i.e., inadequate volume of amniotic fluid) and polyhydramnios (i.e., excessive volume of amniotic fluid) which are associated with increased fetal morbidity and mortality. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of AFV assessment using real-time US during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
