ABDUCTION PILLOW: APPLYING AND REMOVING

Course overview

An abduction pillow is a specially designed wedge-shaped pillow that is used to reduce risk of hip dislocation in patients who have undergone hip arthroplasty (i.e., surgery to replace the hip joint with a prosthetic implant).This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of applying and removing an abductor pillow including its clinical indications for use, how to apply and remove the pillow, and signs and symptoms of adverse effects of abductor pillow use. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
