Course overview
North America is home to thousands of Aboriginal tribes who speak more than 100 unique languages and maintain distinct cultural histories. Yet, in spite of this cultural heterogeneity, Aboriginal people are similarly affected by a high prevalence of diabetes mellitus, type 2 (DM2). This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of current knowledge about providing culturally competent care to Aboriginal people in North America with DM2, and to aid in caring for the Aboriginal patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
