Course overview

Adenocarcinoma is an invasive type of cancer that develops in glandular tissue, often in the lining (i.e., in mucus-secreting cells) of the cervical canal. Adenocarcinoma in situ (AIS) is a condition in which adenocarcinoma is found only in the first layer of cells lining the cervix and is not detected in deeper tissues. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of adenocarcinoma in situ of the cervix including its description and etiology, incidence, risk factors, signs and symptoms, clinical presentation, and information about treatment goals for the healthcare provider. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
