Course overview

Bathing on a regular basis is a necessary part of personal hygiene and is a method of preventing body odor and infection. A disposable bed bath (DBB) is a commercially prepared package of premoistened cloths that are used as an alternative to bathing a patient in bed using washcloths, soap, and a washbasin of water. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of relevant research on the general principles of DBB systems, including why a DBB is used, patient safety when using a DBB, and how to bathe a patient using a DBB. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
