AMENORRHEA

Course overview

Amenorrhea is defined as the absence of menstruation in females due to developmental or functional failure of the endocrine and reproductive systems in one or more of the following organs: the gonads (i.e., ovaries), pituitary gland, hypothalamus, and/or uterus. Amenorrhea is classified as either primary (also called delayed menarche) or secondary. This continuing education module is designed to give the reader/learner an increased understanding of amenorrhea, including its clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment, and to aid in caring for the patient with this diagnosis. Readers may explore any or all of the topics. One contact hour of continuing education credit is available for those who successfully complete the post-test and evaluation form.
